ASUS Z270 & i7 6700k Compatible

Hey,

I am wondering if the ASUS Z270 & i7 6700K are compatible together,

the reason why I ask is because I am getting different opinions.

 

On this website it claims that they are compatible however on Reddit a user mentioned (screenshot) that he had problems with this exact combination, I ordered before I even got this message as I would have not ordered it.

 

Is this false information and are they actually compatible, thanks.

Not sure if this makes a difference but the full name of the motherboard is "ASUS LGA 1151 STRIX GAMING Intel Z270"

The guy did respond with an update mentioning that only the i7-7700 & i7-7700K are only ones that are compatible; screenshot here;

 

A little worried with the follow up.

Yes but getting it new makes little sense due to the rediculous pricing of the Components.

The CPU is worth 150€ at most...

That's what the price is for a new CPU that performs about the same as the 6700K...

Purchasing it from Amazon creates little hassle for me plus I have somewhere to go if this fails, I don't trust marketplaces that are not reputable (Facebook, Gumtree etc)

NO, just NO, do NOT buy that!

Its far too expensive for what you get!

 

If you have a Month or so, you should look at either the Ryzen 3600 or 3700X...

 

If you have to buy now, I'd look at cheper AMD Options such as the Ryzen 2400G for ~100€ or so and plan to replace it whenever.

A good Board is around 100€ or so. You can do something for 80€ as well.

 

Getting the old, last gen before the last that came before that for the price of a _NEW_ higher end CPU makes really no sense.

i7 8700 are not compatible with my board.
