Use a PS2 keyboard sometimes USB doesn't get detected

Hey

 

A friend of mine has just built his first PC, he has everything put together but when he is trying to boot and start the windows install process (from cd drive) his mouse and keyboard are not detected. 

 

Both mouse and keyboard work fine when in the bios, the instant it reaches the windows install screen (language choice etc) the mouse and keyboard stop working. 

 

They are quite standard USB devices. 

 

The motherboard in question is the:

Asus M5A97 LE

 

Any help would be greatly appreciated :) 

Case: Corsair C70 GunMetalBlack, CPU: Intel 3570k, Mobo: Asus p8z77-v lx, CPU Cooler: BeQuiet! do you have the USB peripherals enabled in the BIOS?

 

Not sure where it will be as it varies from BIOS to BIOS. Usually in the peripherals section.

Thanks for the help, ended up using a usb to PS2 adapter and it started detecting it alright :)
