Another 2018 Macbook Pro Problem!

Hey guys,

I'm currently using a 2018 13 inch Touch-bar MacBook Pro, about 2 months old, and I'm getting some weird display issues. (Regretting purchase in 3... 2... 1...)

 

I'll be using Google Chrome and occasionally there will be a big white/red/black line that comes across the screen horizontally in no specific place, just boom its there, then maybe a quarter of a second later it's gone, happening every 15-30 minutes of use. Inside of the white line it looks like gray and white tiles, kind of like a transparent background texture in Photoshop and it'll effect about 1/8th of the screen. When the line decides it's gonna be black there is a slight outline that is about 2 pixels that is red.

 

It's happened about 30 times now, and I was wondering if thats a hardware or software issue. Currently running Chrome with Hardware Acceleration OFF and the system is running Mojave 10.14.4. Sometimes this issue will occur in other applications, but I'm using Chrome most of the time so that's when I really notice it.

Can you capture what you are talking about visually? Does it happen when you are moving the display or just when you're using the computer normally? 

 

Also try turning hardware acceleration on whenever possible.

It happens when I'm using the computer normally. I'll try to capture it.

Then it's more than likely not a hardware fault. What version of macOS are you on? Be sure to keep your machine up to date as much as possible. Sounds like it's just a graphics glitch. I want to say its nothing to worry about, but I'll wait till I see what you post about trying to capture it.

Is it still covered under warranty since its 2 months old. I would take it in to a apple store first

I've been trying to record it on my phone for the past 40 minutes, but it's proving difficult to make the problem show up again. I can make a sort of mockup in photoshop as an example, but as you said it's probably nothing to worry about, just odd. Also I like that G5 setup you have, those big aluminum towers are great looking.
