So my new car has an SD card slot for media playback and I was wondering whether I should fork out £40 ($60) on a well-known branded card (Kingston, San-disk etc.) or would a cheap option at about £12 ($18) suffice? I realised that I've never actually bought an SD card before in my life!

This is purely for music playback in my car.

Also, is it advisable to get a USB 3.0 adapter for it or can they not perform at those speeds?

Cheers!

There are high end Class 10 SD cards with higher read/write speeds but they are mainly for cameras that need the higher speeds for high quality video. For music a Class 4 would suffice. And there's no need to get a USB 3.0 adapter unless you go for the high speed SD card
