Steam Os

Go to solution Solved by Birdman,

SteamOS is Linux like everyone said, if you were to attempt to install on your mothers 10 year old computer it would most likely not work and it would remove Windows from that PC.

Because you have SteamOS on a pc does not make it possible to stream games from your power rig to your moms dinosaur.

Hope I answered your questions.

i heaed about steam os a long time ago but dont fully understand it. is is something i can put on my moms 10 year old pc and stream my games from my power pc to it.can someone please explain how it works.

Steam OS is a supposed to be a free alternative OS for gamers. It is for gamers because it is easier than Linux to configure.

It IS Linux.

so it would replace windows

At the moment it seems to be more suited to the living room PC than the typical Desktop.

Yes, I know but Steam OS is easier to configure.

That depends on the distro and it's a matter of preference.

It is Linux.

SteamOS doesn't exist, it's marketing hype.

Debian Linux + Steam wallpaper + Steam Client in Big Picture = "SteamOS"

As for Easier, not really, there are a gazzilion Linux distros that are easy to configure.,..IE Ubuntu.

All "SteamOS" adds is wallpaper and Steam Client running in Big Picture by default.
