My Vega 64 (sapphire reference card) has suddenly seemed like it has stopped working and its driving me crazy. I can't play any game now for more than 20 minutes before the card crashes (flashes to black and the fans rev up to 100% and then the screens disconnect). It doesn't matter whether this is stock, turbo or a custom OC.

This also is happening on Heaven benchmark - it starts out getting 20-30 fps (1440p ultrawide mind you) and then crashes midway through a benchmark. Last month when I tested it I was averaging 85 fps stable on an overclock so I'm not sure what has happened here. Today while running Heaven, i noticed that the GPUTach power lights is stuck on P1 when running heaven (which is why the FPS is so low and why I assume its crashing). Going into wattman and changing the minimum state to P6 or P7 has all the lights light up immediately on the GPU and then when I run heaven, it just goes back to P1.

Anyone know what the issue is here? I updated the drivers (didn't work), then ran DDU and removed the drivers and reinstalled them from scratch and I'm still having issues.

I don't think the issue is the CPU (cinebench runs just fine and the PBO on my Ryzen 7 2700x overclocks to where it normally performs so I don't think that's the issue.

PC Specs below:

Motherboard: Asus Prime x470

CPU: Ryzen 7 2700x

Memory: 16GB DDR4 3200 mhz Trident G. Skill

GPU: Sapphire Vega 64 Reference

Try going into BIOS and set everything to defaults,  Then also do not OC GPU either and tell us if this happens.  In game is what matters not a stupid benchmark my friend.

I have that blackscreen and fans 100% problem since ive got the card (june 2018) and its been replaced 2 times and still does it

I had blackscreens about 4-6x a day, and i kinda fixed it with using HDMI instead of DP, it only happens once a week now

Doesnt matter if its windows or linux

And if you look on the amd forums there are thousants of complaints regarding that

From what i can tell its a driver related issue

Let's agree to disagree

I have done that and still get the same results. I'm pretty sure its stuck in P1 all the time.

Did you end up RMAing it? How did that process work and how long does the RMA process take? I don't want to go down that route since it means that I won't have a computer for a while...

Just buy a temporary card from Best Buys or Fry's then RMA her.  Although theres a chance its the motherboard.  The video card might not be at fault after all.

3x trough the store (was a store branded pre build) pc been in the shop 6x for a total of 2 months

Im so tired of if it i just deal with the blackscreens and the random lockups (yes i also have random lockups with the vega)

The pc itself is working awesome (with an nvidia gpu that is) but with the vega ....

Weird thing is with my other 4770k system i have the same shit but with my I5-750 system from 2009 it runs like it should

Let's agree to disagree

I was having the exact same problem you are describing.

Uninstall your drivers and the Radeon Adrenaline software.
Restart and download the drivers, run the exe and choose CUSTOM installation and ONLY tick to install the display and audio drivers, not the wizard of system files.

I have been crash free ever since.
It would appear that "Adrenaline" causes lots of problems for many people and AMD are yet to address this,

Does this prevent you from overclocking?
