XMP RAM

I was looking at buying an Alienware Desktop (Ew I know pre-builts) and I noticed in the options they had 16gb ddr4-3200 xmp ram as a $220 option. Is there a difference between that and normal 3200 Ram that I can get at my local store?

Other than its specifically validated in the build they are selling. No they are identical in every way.

no not really. with AW it might be one of their own kits that they have tested and vetted and will cover warranty on.

also that price for ram seems very high

Thats exactly what I thought especially since they say in the parts sheet that its just HyperX RAM. Thanks for explaining it to me.
