Hello all!

Long time viewer, first time poster. Im looking to jump into VR after having been a pc gamer for quite a while. I have a decent pc and am wondering whether I should get a quest or a rift s. I know the quest has a significantly smaller library then what pc powered vr has, but my concern is that I wont get great performance from my current pc, not really wanting to upgrade my cpu and get a 400 dollar vr headset. Would love your advice. My specs are listed below:

i5-6600k

Gtx 1070

16gb DDR4

512 SSD

Why don't you look into wmr headsets, as I had mine running on a 4670 and 1060. (And I do remember hearing microsoft say that It could even be run on integrated graphics)

Welcome to the forum! :)

The specs listed is perfectly fine for almost all VR titles that is gonna be supported by the Oculus Rift S.

Please mention or quote me if you want a response. :)

Your specs are fine for most games. O.C your CPU with a decent cooler if you can.

It really depends on what you want to play.

Quest will give you a totally wireless experience but you are limited by the mobile SOC and are tied to only buying from the oculus store.

It's Console VR essentially.

Rift S is tethered but if you want to play more graphically demanding games, games with peripherals like a racing wheels or flight sticks, or want a wider selection of games the quest can't run from multiple stores, then this is your option.

They both have their place but are by no means interchangeable in their ability.

WMR are ok when you can get them cheap but the extra cameras on the rift S will be a big boost in tracking quality which was always WMR weak point.

WMR only works on integrated graphics in so far as you can use the WMR house and some basic apps.  You still need a good video card to play games at any decent frame rate.

Like someone else mentioned, your specs are meeting the recommended and required for the Rift S:

https://www.oculus.com/rift-s/

If you would like to double check, I posted the Oculus website above, which lists the specs. I just got a Rift S, and so far I'm loving it! Although you're getting the portability with the Quest, the cons for me were being limited from playtime by the battery life, having only 64 GB of space (or 128 GB for $499) to download games (I have slow internet, so this would be killer for me) and the graphics won't be the same. It’s up to you in the end, but I think the Rift S is a better option if you have the PC to run it, which you do. Either way, enjoy VR! ?

Bought an i5, got an i7. Thanks Amazon.
