So I have my PC connected through ethernet directly to my modem and it's been this way for nearly a year now and it's worked fine. Around two months ago I upgraded to gigabit internet and an ATT guy came out to replace our modem, and since then my PC has been dropping its internet connection at random times. Sometimes it'll say that it's connected but there's no internet, and sometimes it'll say nothing's connected to it. This had never happened until the ATT guy replace my modem, and I've tried everything to fix it. Be it swapping ports on the back of the modem or completely resetting it, nothing's worked. The problem is too that my PC is the only computer that's hooked up to ethernet in my house so there's no way to know if the problem is my internet or my PC. Everything else that's used in my house is used almost entirely for content streaming and it doesn't disconnect long enough to cause buffering in the video playback. I'm a very avid CSGO player and I keep freezing in place mid-pug and it's screwing me over. I've tried updating drivers and seriously nothing has worked and I'm not trying to deal with my ISP unless its the only thing I have left, and I don't wanna drop money on a dedicated ethernet card unless I have to. Any thoughts on what I should do?

Had this same issue, switched to gigabit and my internet connection went all wonky. My ISP had to come out and replace the lines, as they were old and not rated for gigabit connections. I would suggest seeing if that's the case, especially if you live in an older home that hasn't had any electrical or fiber upgrades in the last few years.
