From the manual:

Quote

Frequency response: 75 Hz ~ 18 KHz (+/-9dB)

±9dB is a really dubious measurement, as almost all manufacturers measure frequency response at ±3dB. Based on these specs, and from drivers of this size in general, don't expect any significant output below 100Hz. A dedicated subwoofer is definitely necessary for full range sound, but I can't tell you what to choose without knowing your budget, room volume, and the frequency range that you are targeting. For general use, a 8-10" ported sub should suffice in a small/medium sized room.

Most manufacturers do measure at +-9db and 6db and 3db, its just not listed often. (alot of high end subwoofer manufacturers measure at +-9db at really low (often subsonic) octaves)

Main speaker setup is now;

Mini DSP SHD Studio -> 2x Mola Mola Tambaqui DAC's (fed by AES/EBU, one feeds the left sub and main, the other feeds the right side) -> 2x Neumann KH420 + 2x Neumann KH870

(Having a totally seperate DAC for each channel is game changing for sound quality)

I'm planning to buy the Edifier R12080T Powered Bookshelf Speakers and I'm wondering if it needs a subwoofer and if yes is there any average priced subwoofers that would work well for these speakers?

For such a small speaker i would get a sub. It would need line level in (not LFE) as those speakers do not have a sub out. Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Polk-10-Inch-Powered-Subwoofer-Single/dp/B0002KVQBA/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?keywords=polk+psw&qid=1557605798&s=gateway&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1
