I recently bought an old xfx rx rs 480 4gb, and its really good. The only downside i found was that it had some heat problems but that was easily fixed with new thermal paste. Now it stays around 30c idle and around 50-85c when playing games (50-60 mostly when playing minecraft) (60-85 when playing newer games). there is no problem when its around 50-60c, the fans barely spins and it isnt very hot, But when it comes up to around 60-85c, oh boy... The fans are spinning at around 50-70% and are making a lot of noise, my mom downstairs hear my PC when playing games too. So im lookin for a solution where the card is cool and quite even if im playing newer games. So i thought i could just remove the plastic "shroud" on top of the gpus heatsink, and then place 2 120mm fans ontop of it instead of the OG "easy replacable fans". Is that a good idea and will it work? Or could i just keep the OG fan and "shroud" and just put 2 120mm fans ontop of the OG gpu fans? so i have 4 fans on it.

This is the fix i have for my current hot card, keep in mind that it decreases performance:

Spoiler

A custom fan curve in MSI afterburner, where the max fan speed is 60%, power limit is 80%, and temp is at max.

Removing the cooler and strapping 2x 120mm fans would be also a good option, would probably drop the temps, while being quieter.

I only see your reply if you @ me.

Well i have a different skin, but basics are the same.

When you want to create a custom fan curve you click the big ⚙ icon somewhere, and then go to "fan", and from there on it is pretty self explanatory.

Am i suppose to make the fans spin more at lower temperature or make it spin less at higher temp?

EDIT: would this be a good fan curve?

You just have to test, test and test.  maybe i would have 85c at 65%, and from there on max fan speed.

This is for example what mine looks like:
