Hello everyone, I am going to build my first gaming PC in approximately a month.

The PC will mostly be used for gaming, although some Solidworks projects will also be completed on it for university. My budget is around £1500, I am willing to go a bit higher (app. £100). For example, I am also considering the RTX 2080 which is about an extra £150 at the moment, do you think it is worth it?

I am planning to use it with a 1440p 144Hz monitor. I do not have one yet so any recommendations are welcome (preferably I would like to avoid TN panels) my budget for the monitor is around £400 if that is even possible haha

I also plan to overclock the CPU if I feel like I need to. (probably later down the line when games require it)

Bellow is the parts list that I have put together. What do you all think about it? Anything I should change? Do you have any recommendations or advice?

P.s Regarding having 3 different storage: M.2 drive for OS and few other software, SSD for games I regularly play and HDD for everything else. (if you think that is stupid and I should just have 1 SSD feel free to say so haha)

Thank you all in advance!

If you're waiting approximately 1 (one) month, just wait until Zen 2 is released by AMD. Do nothing until then!

They should be announced at Computex at the end of the month. Wait till then at the very least!

This all looks good, but personally, if you are going to do 3D modeling, I would get Ryzen

I understand, to be honest I haven't really considered AMD CPUs as the stuff I am (and will be) doing is not extremely demanding so I didn't think it would be of much benefit to me. I will take a look around never the less. Which Ryzens would you recommend?

Thanks for the heads up! I will definitely wait for that. New CPUs and possible prices drops on both sides?! Wouldn't miss it.

I'm pretty sure that it is only AMD that's dropping new CPUs. I hope someone can correct me. Hopefully, AMD can become even more competitive.

Sorry, that is what I meant. New CPUs from AMD        and         possible price drops on both sides.
My bad.

Thank you! Is there any specific reason you changed the cooler other than looks?

Time to switch to Blender...

I actually wouldn't mind doing that, I have messed about in Blender before. Mostly just having fun with the rigid body physics.
Unfortunately though, I have to use Solidworks

Thank you! Most people seem to recommend 3000 ram, so I guess the difference in performance doesn't justify the price difference between 3000 and 3200?!

Intel isn't as sensitive to RAM speeds.

That said, anything beyond 3000 is diminishing returns anyway for more money. Not quite worth the outlay.
