I currently own a pair of Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 80 Ohms, I bought them back in 2016 and the right ear side is falling apart, the plastic bit holding the cup to the band is nearly entirely broken off. So I'm in need of new ones, I use a mod mic so I don't need a mic or detachable cable for one specifically. I'm looking for something with the same or better audio quality I don't want to get something worse ya know. I mostly use them for video watching, music listening, and gaming. I like clarity and they should be able to run on a phone and without a DAC/AMP. My max price limit would probably be about $300 sop nothing more expensive than that. Some brand suggestions I've seen are senhessier, AKG, Oppo, and V-Moda. The V-Moda's Crossfade M-100 seem interesting but there also seems to be mixed response to how it does vocals and to me vocals are important to music I listen too so I'd like suggestions, thoughts, and the like.

akg k553 seem to be the go to cans fr great midrange around this price.I find lacks a bit of low end but has nice highs. but if you like a punchier but really tight bass with great midrange and highs I would say give the b and o h6's a try. both run pretty well withou a dac amp but could benefit.

I have seen the AKG's suggested a lot! The B&O h6's seem to be out of stock on amazon atm and end up going past $300. Portability is a big part of it but I also don't mind heavier headphones, most of the time I'm at home so as long as they're comfortable in prolonged use I'll be good.

be warned though they sound more neutral and are narrower than the 770's

I see I see, what would the benefits of those be over the 770's if any and would there be better alternatives?

build quality.and if you like your mids these are a treat to listen to. while the 770 are closer to a v shaped sound signature emphasizing highs and bass the k553s ahve awesome mids. sound wise very different but not at all bad in fact great if vocal clarity is what your looking for.  is there anything you want more or less of from the 770s?

With the 770's I do often find that vocals get washed out by the other sounds in music not by a massive amount but to a point where I can audibly tell the vocals are getting pushed behind the rest of the music. They sound great otherwise and the quality is great but vocals could be better. I like a full spectrum of music and audio quality so a good balance is what I'm after but vocal clarity is definitely a big part of what I want.

if you dont mind going an open back possibly akg k7xx, or hd 58x , he 4xx are possible upgrades, if the h6's go back in stock that would be cool because sound wise I would say those are really nice to got towards what your looking for.

Open backs seem to be the best for sound but I prefer closed back due to the fact I like with 5 other people and don't want sound leakage.

Can't find the H7's but the Monoliths seem interesting, my only issue with it is that the head band looks very flimsy with how it connects the two together, it makes it light weight but I can't help but feel like it's end up snapping easily.

the durability is fine it's similar to the 770's headband they are prry solid but they do have some comfort issues easily fixed by adding something like a zmf pilot pads.

I see! Yeah the part that broke on my 770's were the plastic shell where the little thing that adjusts the headphones rests in.

oh you can replace those I believe contact beyer dynamic as they sell spare parts for most of their headphones. their headphones are pretty serviceable.

That is true, I do remember seeing that these headphones could have literally like any part of it replaced or fixed other than the drivers. But it still might do good to get new ones, it's been a few years with these and there's just a lot of options so it's hard to decide.

EDIT: Oh wow it'd cost $30 just to buy the parts to repair it.

Not sure if that's good or bad

For what's basically 4 small screws and some plastic bits it's more than you'd probably want to pay I'd understand like $10 ranges for it but $30 seems excessive for pieces that can break so easily.

Yeah but they know people are willing into spend $30 rather than buy new headphones altogether. I'm just happy  they at least provide the pieces. Look around Ali express to see if they have cheap replacement parts.
