Help with case airflow

Fyre

So im planning a new build for later this year, and I already have the case I want to use, the H500. Here's my part list

Ive been hearing that the h500 does not have good airflow, and that with a 2070 it'll become an oven. After the watercooling vid by LTT, I decided to use that cooler instead of an AIO. This kind of makes everything airflow based on a case that apparently does not have much of it. So, I need to know what to do. It would be nice to keep my current case, but if you think I have to switch cases, I need one that can match the aesthetic of this one. Or, should I get some nice case fans, would that work?

Thanks

If I may make a few suggestions....

If you're gonna get a Noctua cooler, get the better one that's actually cheaper

Also 8700K, $50 cheaper, performs about the same in games despite 2 less cores. Unless you're gonna be doing workstation that needs high core count, I can't see why to pay Intel $50 more. You also get 12 threads (hyper-threading) which they removed for the 9700K

Also Gigabyte Aorus board, these Aorus boards are probably the best bang-for-buck Z390 boards now

Get a better PSU, with the budget freed up from those 2 items I got you a fully modular MWE Gold, 650W too.

I agree with bigrom quite a bit. Get a 8700k. Also you really dont need 3200MHz ram, 2666 is enough imo. Then with saving from both of those get a better psu. Also although you can easily get away with that motherboard I would recommend going to at least the $200 level. I personally like asus but the aurus boards do seem to quite the steal plus its always nice matching stuff.

I would take linus's video with a grain of salt, blender stresses the cpu way more than gaming will and if you have headphones on you are not going to be hearing fans with a noctua or aio.

Main Computer: Intel 9900k, Asus Maximus XI Formula, Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 4x16GB 3000MHZ C15, EVGA GTX1070 Hybrid, Corsair HX850i, Lian Li PC-O11 Dynamic, 26TB

2: Xeon 2695 V3, Asus x99-A II, Corsair Vengeance Pro 4x8GB 2666 C15, Corsair RX750

3: Dell R510 8-Bay, dual x5675, 16GB ECC, 8x600GB 15k SAS

Other than the psu this is a pretty good build. If you are concerned about improving airflow you could add a second 120mm front intake fan. There are cases with better airflow, but I don't think one is really needed and finding a decent one in white would be difficult.

The cpu cooler is quite good and has the advantage of not interfering with the glitzy Trident Z RGB memory.

If budget allows you might consider SeaSonic FOCUS Plus 550 Gold or Corsair RM550x (2018) in place of the CX550M.

Ok, i'll go for the RM550 instead. Budget does have some wiggle room, since ill just be taking my storage from my current build, and I already have the case.

I wanted to get the 9700K for the high overclocking, and I plan to also do some vid editing for a friend of mine. Also, would more cores be better than more threads for more applications open?

Why not grab a Dark Rock Pro 4 for a few bucks savings? (And hey, it's not the ugly ass brown!)

https://de.pcpartpicker.com/product/F3gzK8/be-quiet-dark-rock-pro-4-505-cfm-cpu-cooler-bk022

As for the airflow, the case has sufficient grilling for intake. It supports either 2x120mm or 2x140mm fans for intake, and supplies 2x120mm exhausts... So really it's got decent airflow, you just need to grab a couple of intake fans.

2x140mm intakes plus a horizontal CPU cooler like that, a blower GPU, and dual exhaust routes is PLENTY of airflow. Not to mention in that setup, it's routing directly past your CPU to exit.

Applications do not necessarily use cpu resources when open. Most applications spend significantly more time blocked waiting for an i/o completion or idling than actually using the cpu.

Sure, seems about the same performance wise, also not brown. Have you seen their really tacky chromax fans lol, they prob perform really well but they just still look so crappy rip. The only thing im kinda worried about is my cooler canoodling with my ram.

I can't make any guarantees, but here is a reference photo... Looks like it sits right on top. Just don't buy sticks with a super tall spreader.

In the tier lists, the Dark Rock Pro 4 comes highly recommended. I would totally get one :P

Dark Rock Pro 4 has sufficient clearance for Trident Z memory. Pointless IMO to get the RGB sticks if one is going to get a DRP4 cooler.

I used this very case and cooler in a pretty neat black and white build I put together (not in real life... I wish...)
