Steam Home Streaming Beta

So I just got in the home streaming beta, anyone want to know anything?! Not sure if there's anyone on here who's already in it or if I'm the first

For anyone interested in my network, my office is a converted garage outbuilding which has 2 CAT6 outdoor cables running between a Netgear Gigabit Switch in the house and another in the office, with everything being gigabit in the office. My house wiring is old cat5 which sometimes runs at gigabit, but not often, which is all being replaced with CAT6 soon. I will try wireless later, as my WiFi is terrible so will be an interesting test.

Nice! been waiting for this for so long, use my low powered media-pc or laptop to play games on!

Got a mail yesterday telling me that I was in. Didn't try anything yet, I'm still waiting for my CPU to arrive...

Performance over wireless has been pretty abismal for me so far. Way too much interference even on 5ghz I guess.

I've been fairly successful with wireless on my laptop, the latency is higher but don't seem to notice it too much when gaming. I have 2.4Ghz wireless N.

 

I probably have a best case scenario for my wifi though as I live in the country and there's only one or two other wireless networks in range, and I tried it when my network wasn't full of the families tablets, phones etc

I'm getting a consistant 720p @ 30fps with a  2.4Ghz wireless N that is in the basement. That's just amazing. Played Arkam Azylum and Mirror's Edge with a Dualshock on my Macbook .

 

I'm on IPTV (Fibe) so when the girlfriend is watching something, I got some lag spikes sometimes. Like the frames drop to 10-15fps for a couple of seconds and then it goes back up. It's tolerable. I should try it downstair when she's doing so...
