Upgrading Custom PC

My current PC is about 1.5-2 years old and I would like something more to be able to play more games at higher settings. Any recommendations or critiques are appreciated.

Current Config:

CPU - AMD Ryzen 5 1600

CPU Cooler - Corsair H100i v2

Motherboard - MSI B350 Tomahawk

)Memory - Corsair Vengance LPX 16 GB(2 x 8 ) DDR4-2400

Storage - WD Blue 500GB M.2(unsure of what storage I want, prefer all to be soild state.)

Video Card - Radeon RX570 4GB

Case - Thermaltake Versa N24 

PSU - Unsure, will check when I get home

 

Potential Upgrade path + some components I will be keeping which is why you see the same cooler, motherboard, storage, and case

Everything looks god except the GPU.  Not that it's bad, just that the rest of the PC would support a much better GPU and carry their own weight for better performance.

 

What resolution are you running?

Do you really need a 2700x? A 2600 and a better graphics card could be better, depending on resolution. What PSU and Ram?

You never listed your psu, but assuming that it's good, you might want to swap the motherboard to an x370/x470. You're losing some oc potential by using a b350.

The most sensible upgrade path is to grab a Vega 64, RTX 2070, Radeon VII, or RTX 2080.

A CPU upgrade isn't feasible for performance increase vs dollar amount.

If you haven't already, this would give you a good path to get either a 1440p 144hz monitor, or a 4K monitor for the latter two if you so choose.

To be clear, is this the PC you are wanting to upgrade or is the the proposed NEW machine?

Oh I assumed the 2700X he listed is what is in his current system.

No budget really, as long as it's not too outlandish like $5000+. So I guess around $1,000 would be best.

Your 1600 could still run a solid GPU upgrade. Not necessarily a frugal upgrade.

I did include a 1700X, since it's on a pretty good sale. For the same price essentially you could also do a 2600X.

The GPU is a huge boost, and will be great for 1440p Ultra, so I added a 27" 1ms 144hz 1440p monitor. 

The PSU is on a great deal so I popped that in there in case you need an upgrade with the new GPU.

RAM is going to be like 10-20% gains on Ryzen, though some titles may show less. At the price, it's a good upgrade.

I haven't checked the reviews on it specifically, but Strix is the higher end line of Asus. That card I linked to is probably super nice. Its only slightly better than the Vega 64, but TDP of 185W versus 295W for the Vega 64. Maybe get it now and upgrade to Ryzen 3000 when available.
