So i was wondering why i can only download things at about 9mb/s but when i do a speed test i get 74mb/s. I know Linus said in one of his videos that you only get about 12.5% of what it says but he didn't explain it further.

Do you mean you download things at 9MB/s and your speed test is 74Mb/s?  That would make a lot more sense.  Units of measurement are everything my friend.

Basically divide your advertised speed by 8 and that's what you should get in the real world. if you want to download at actual 74MB/s you'll need a 500Mb/s advertised speed*, good luck finding that.

Speed tests work in megabits while your download is megabytes

No, you said 9mb/s (9 millibits per second) and 74mb/s (74 millibits per second).  I think you meant you are downloading things at 9 megabytes per second (9MB/s) but your speed test shows you are capable of 74 megabits per second (74Mb/s).  There are 8 bits in a byte, so 9 megabytes in 72 megabits, your download speed is correct.

Best we can get is 200Mb/s, but that's stupidly expensive to get set-up around here.
