Before you ask or say so I'm well aware the age of the old graphics card and know it's not the best option but I want to try this anyways. I have a new 1070ti. Love it no complaints. But I also have an old Quadro 6000 lying around that I want to use to do some compute testing that I don't want to do on my 1070ti. Also want to use it for stream encoding. But it is no longer supported in new graphics drivers. And the oldest it supports will not support my new GPU. Is there a physical limitation that makes using the newest driver on my old GPU not work or is there something on the software side I can do. Looking for a project so if it's a very involved process that's good. If it's quick and easy even better. Anyone got ideas?

use the 1070 instead

the 1070 will do it faster , and use less power and less heat and be stressed less.

you would only use the 6000 if you wanted the machine to run worse and use more power

do you understand that even if this was possible (which as you've discovered isn't due to lack of software support for old hardware) that the card in question is so slow that offloading this task to it rather than using the 1070 will actually be slower than just using the 1070?

I know it's not supported. That's why I asked. But want to see if I can change the drivers or something in card bios to make it supported

Sure , hire a programmer to make you a custom bios for your quadro , and then a custom driver for the quadro , to trick the machine into thinking it's a newer gpu , and to then configure your software you use to be compatible with this gpu as the software will assume it has hardware and instructions thats don't exist on the card. You'll then be able to experience the cardworking at about a 4th the speed of the 1070 while also slowing the machine down significantly.

If you're wondering how to proceed then start looking for a programmer to hire
