Hey guys,

I am looking forward to build my first pc. I would like to hear your opinion on my parts. The PC will be used mainly for gaming and Office work maybe some light photo and Video edditing. And I will try and overclock all components. And maybe I should say that some parts are there mostly for looks. I wanted the pc to look very good. My budget is roughly 1000€ (I am from Germany) and that's what I am looking at:

  • CPU: Ryzen 5 2600
  • Mobo: msi b450 gaming pro carbon (are there any other b450 mobos with integrated wifi, cause I need wifi? Or is there really just this one?)
  • CPU cooling: enermax aquafusion 240 (I know that I don't need a 240 liq cooling for the CPU but it looks so good)
  • RAM: 16gb of trident z rgb or corsair vengeance rgb pro (what speed would give me the most power for the money? Should I go 3000 or higher? Or is 2666 enough?)
  • Some ssd (whatever I could get for a good price, and I have some hard drives which I can reuse)
  • GPU: Asus Arez vega 56 (It is under 300€ here)
  • PSU: be quiet pure Power 11 600w or corsair vengeance 650m (is the corsair one good? I am not sure on this. And is 600w enough or to much for this system? Do u have some other psu's u can recommend?)
  • Case: Asus tuf gt501

I hope the parts fit together. Thx for ur help!

https://pcpartpicker.com/products/motherboard/#c=133&e=63,31,15,30,14,6,8, a list of B450 motherboards with wifi. Ofc you could also get a PCIE wifi adapter.

I personally would get 3000Mhz, but 2666 should be enogh if you don't like paying the bit extra.

Those all should work together. I don't know if you've used it, but for future reference pcpartpicker will automatically do compatibility checks.

I wouldn't do an AM4 board from MSI to many issues.

Yeah I used pcpartpicker, but I just wasn't sure with the psu. And before I spend that much money I wanted to do a double check.

Thanks for the new list Luke, I will consider some of these parts.

If you're not planning on OCing the card outside its turbo settings, you can forego the cooler and save some money.  The stock cooler is great for even a slight OC.

2666 and oc is a option on a budget, but with this i would say 3000 directly

i mean, i can help great on that part... 600w is enough, but i noticed the little price difference between the 600 and 700. quality is most important here

vengeance is decent, the bronze is on the level of the cx 2017, and the silver somewhere between the cx 2017 and txm

tho the 2600 cooler is worse than the 1600 unfortunately

but even a air cooler is cheaper than that aio

Such as ?

The X470 Pro Carbon has tons of issues some of which I've personally dealt with while fixing a friends computer. It didn't even work with the 2700x for some people until MSI fixed it, and a majority of the MSI AM4 boards issues have been fairly serious, Incompatibility issues even though it's the right chipset, DOA boards, firmware updates causing issues with the CPU's, it's mostly fixed through bios updates but  AM4 has been one of the worst launches for MSI boards, it's all over a lot of the forums. I love MSI and have used tons of their boards in the past but after having to deal with the issues I have with the X470 Pro Carbon and learning about the issues the entire line of AM4 MSI boards have had I just cant recommend them for this particular chipset. The only one out of the MSI AM4 line that apparently hasn't had any issues is the Tomahawk.

You can find issues with any AM4 board though if you google it. I had issues with a Gigabyte board that refused to boot with Corsair Ram or would give me a black screen etc. I had to swap it out for some Kingston and it was ok after that. One of the downsides MSI had was the lack of offset voltage but I believe they have sorted that out with bios updates.

Yeah a majority of the issues have been sorted out with bios updates, which is great. I mean I'm sure a lot of them are ok but the Pro Carbon series is a crap shoot and MSI's RMA skills are meh.

The B450/X470 Gaming Pro Carbon both have solid VRM's though. Look at Asus lower end boards as a comparison i.e B450 Prime Plus and the B450 TUF. They are a joke for the price they are asking. You have to look at the X470 Prime upwards for a decent Asus offering. At least with MSI they have some good value lower end boards. As for RMA I haven't used MSI myself so can't speak for that, but I will say that Asus are no better in that regard at least in the UK.

Yeah the VRM's are solid but the issues a majority of people are having with the Pro Carbon series have nothing to do with the VRM's.
