Normally when a person decides to upgrade/update their gaming rig we either start from a blank canvas or we do it part by part, the two most important parts are your cpu or gpu which dictates your system's outlook or performance.

So here's my question

When you purchase a model of gpu you have decided on, what dictates your choice of that model?

Brand?

Cooling?

Color?

Design?

Lighting?

Price tag?

Sound?

Size?

I usually go for the cheapest of the  model I want and try to get it in black.

I'm a budget person so price tag, cooling, coil whine and that's about it, oh yeah make the size fit in my case.

While fanboying is bad, brand is underrated (in the current state of the votes) considering that usually brands also dictates warranty length and customer support quality.

My top 3 are:

1. Price to Performance

2. VRAM (Basically longevity)

3. Cooler quality/design

I find those to be the most important. VRAM is arguably the most crucial to get right of those 3 because we've seen how well cards like the 290x lasted (They are still good even now), meanwhile cards like the 780ti have fallen off a cliff because of the lack of vram. Same thing for newer cards like the 1060 3gb, it's suffering badly especially on minimum fps.

The three I looked for were cooler, design, and price tag.

I settled on my Asus Dual GTX 1060 due to the above reason:

  • It has a dual-fan cooling system
  • It's white which will match my build
  • It came in at under £250 which was my budget at the time
