Second Ever Build

Hey everyone! Decided to build a new pc as my first is getting fairly dated and I've been working enough to get some cash for a decent PC. I am from Australia if thats an relevancy, we get shafted in the pc market here which is fun! Heres what I am thinking -

  • GPU: ASUS GeForce RTX 2070 Turbo EVO 8GB
  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 2700X with Wraith Prism
  • Motherboard: ASRock B450M Pro4
  • Ram: G.Skill Trident Z RGB F4-3000C16D-16GTZR 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4
  • SSD: Samsung 970 EVO Plus NVMe SSD 1TB
  • PSU: Cooler Master MWE Gold 650W Power Supply
  • CASE: Fractal Design Core 1100 Micro ATX Case

Also a side note - I don't think I plan on over-clocking my GPU or CPU

Thanks in advance for your help and time!

what is your previous PC?

id suggest waiting a 1-1,5 months for Zen 2 to launch.

if you cant wait, drop CPU to a r5 2600 and get a RTX 2080 instead.

also get yourself a TXM 550 watt PSU instead

you save 5$. thats why. also you really dont need more power than a 550watt.

could also grab the 550 watt variant of the MWE for the same ammount

Hey

My previous PC has a i5-3570 in it with a gtx 960 2gb

And why would you suggest waiting for zen 2? For the price drop of previous gen or to get a brand spanking new bit of hardware?

I don't think I'd drop the 2700x even if I upgraded to the 2080

Yeah see I thought maybe the same thing. Would the dual fan version be any better though?

id look at getting everything CPU and mobo. you can then hold off untill Zen 2 drops.

both, tho msi already confirmed some of their boards to support zen2, so it'll probably happen soon for asrock too

dual is better, but still not THAT good. any reason you're focussed on Asus?

Well I've just had a good history would previous ASUS products and my MSI card let me down a bit I feel, but no I would be probably easily convinced otherwise lol

And also waiting for new gen stuff is good in theory but I'm not sure I really want to spend the extra bucks on brand new hardware. I need to put some research into Zen 2 because honestly I knew verrryyy little of it

is the strix that good? ive heard mixed things about it.

though id trust Sapphire a whole lot more when it comes to quality and warranty. they are known as the EVGA of AMD. or vise versa.
