Hello!

I come to you at my wit's end with a GPU issue.  I am using an MSI Armor RX 570 8GB and have run in to some weird issues with the memory clock and have not been able to find a similar issue yet on the internet.  The issue is that, when under load the memory clock will flip flop between 1kMHz and 100% speed (i tested this at stock speed (1750MHz, and it had been working fine for a few months at 2kMHz overclocked).  The issue has been going on for about 2 months, though at first it would only occur after a restart.  Once I loaded my wattman settings things generally fell in to order.  The last time i restarted everything got stuck. I have tried the following:

- Driver re-install (using DDU).  Tried twice with the original CD, and twice with AMD downloaded drivers.  Also tried both on 19.1.1 and 19.4.1.

- Resetting the CMOS battery

- switching to MSI afterburner after DDU'ing.  It didn't change anything so i removed it (DDU), and re-installed radeon settings.

- Adjusting wattman settings including power draw %, Memory Timing, Frequency (reset to stock, and to lowest setting to test), and voltage control.

- Set windows to performance mode.

Here are my current specs:

Asus Z97-A LGA 1150

Intel Core i5 4690K

MSI Armor RX 570 8GB

16 GB DDR3 Corsair Ram

120gb ssd

2tb hdd

 Corsair TX750W PSU

I am not sure what other info you might need to help me out, but i would be more than happy to answer any questions!  I have been having a string of bad luck with my GPUs lately, so I'm itching to get this sorted out before i throw my PC in a fire.

I attached a screenshot of GPU-Z to give you an idea of the "flip-flop" nature of the issue while running the Unity Heaven Benchmark.  As you can see, temps aren't super high and combined wattage is around 140 (expected).  The only thing i notice that's a bit unexpected is the memory controller load looks low, but I'm not familiar enough with that setting to speculate on that.

Thanks in advance!

Brutal.  Probably about a 75%-90% drop? GPU clock is stable, and load % rarely drops below 90 when gaming.

Out of curiosity do you keep a video or something running in the background or on another display? Or ever chrome open?

I have done so in the past, usually just DIscord or a browser window for looking things up, but since I've been getting this issue i have tried testing with Unity being the only program i have open and the issue persists.

Also, i only have one display so nothing hiding elsewhere :)

Consider a RMA. Could be a vram temp issue.

i had thought about doing exactly this, but have never RMA'd a card before.  Would there be a way to test the vram temp sensor is malfunctioning or something?  Or a way to reach out to MSI/AMD support to make sure that's the issue?  It has been acting up since i got it though...
