Desk build: Computer shelf ventilation

I'm designing a desk and wanted to build a shelf for the computer that can hide it for a clean look.  However, I've become concerned with air flow and cooling.  Can I get some advice as to how to solve this problem?  I've attached a picture of the desk design.

 

The picture doesn't show it but the computer shelf will have a door on the front.  This only leaves the hole in the back (for cords) as ventilation.

Are you gonna be using the lower left hand cubby for the PC? it's not clear where you intend to put it.

you could drill a couple 120 fan holes in the side of the desk and put covers over them with dust filters. also you could add an exhaust fan to the back as well

I'd just get a good flowing case, and leave the back of that cubby off.

 

It's the same desk everywhere, same issue.  You'll end up with higher temps regardless, just mitigate with making it as open as possible.

 

Or get a nice case that you don't mind it being seen.

I'd recommend taking a look at the Cooler Master Q500L. One of, if not the smallest ATX cases out. Sits shorter than my monitor, with my monitor at it's lowest position. It's 381mm tall, not sure the dimensions of your desk but it looks as if the corner cubby would fit the Q500L and hide away behind your monitor.
