1440p ultimate solution

Go to solution Solved by MeatFeastMan,

Radeon VII. You ideally will want above 8gb for the future at 3440 x 1440.  Radeon VII gives you 16gb and HBCC, With the Radeon VII, you don't have to spend crazy money on a 2080ti, but you also get more vram than the 2080, which is okay now but in the future it will struggle with 8gb at ultra. It's the best middleground and the best option for 3440 x 1440.

You should get 60 in every game at ultra, other than maybe one or two that are badly optimized.

What refresh?

60 - Vega56/2060

120 - Vega64/2070

144/200 - Radeon 7/2080

My Vega 64 pushes 100 on most AAA titles at 1440p though it struggles to hit 60 on AC:O, GG Ubisoft, GG.

If I still used 1440, it would have to be 2080 at a minimum. Given current game demands. I’d do a 2080ti in preferration for two newer games I’d play.

RE2 remake isn't very demanding.

Metro Exodus needs a lot more power.

What about dual rtx 2080ti ??

does it worth it ??

Not really but a single 2080ti I should still 30/40 percent faster once oced than a radeon 7

not to mention how insanely hot The Radeon runs

The Radeon VII doesn't run hot. It actually runs cooler than an rtx 2080, and that's coming from Linus's video. What you are probably reading is AMD's new sensors, where it measures a 'junction temperature'. That is where the gpu is hottest in the center, whereas the normal temp that is usually measured on pretty much all gpu's is far lower.

And it's unfair to compare the two since the 2080ti is in a completely different price range. Might be 30% faster but is also 30%, probably more like 40% more expensive too. He doesn't need that at 3440 x 1440. At 4k, the 2080ti is a good choice. But at anything below that, you can get away with a Radeon VII or a 2080 for 60fps at ultra in 99% of games.

Even on the edge temps there mid 70’s my 2080 runs at 62c

if he’s is considering sli 280ti then he can afford one

if u want a card to run into the ground for years spend extra and get the best u Can afford

2080 or 2080 ti if you are aiming at 100-144 hz.

Anything lower will not give you consistently high frame rates.  My 2080 ti even drops down to 120-130 in apex legends and it isnt particularly intense.  In AAA titles it doesn't come close to holding 144-165 hz.

If you are aiming at 60 hz a 2070 would probably be ok, above that I would go 2080 minimum.

Of course Radeon VII would also be a good option
