Graphics card fan

Go to solution Solved by helping,

Loosen the screws, support the card by holding the shroud or laying the case on it's side. Get a long flat head screw driver to avoid stripping and torque that screw in there.

I have the Gigabyte 770, it's probably just as long, but I don't know if it weighs the same but I have virtually zero sag and fit mine in while supporting the card manually and tightening it more than normal.

Try and route your cables over the top of the PCB of the card so that the wires fall down from the cabling grommets and onto the card. I suspect you have your cables going up to the card from under.  Keep the cabling tight.

you can string it up but that would look pretty ghetto IMO.

I got an Asus GTX 770 about ~20 days ago, and it sags a little. If I had to guess how much it, it would be around 1/3 of an inch, but there's a slight problem with it.

My problem is that the right fan (On the side that sags the most) starts to make a screeching/clicking sound randomly and it can get very annoying. When I first heard it, I knew it wasn't my PSU because the fan on it only spins under 50% load, so I stopped my graphics card fans one by one and it went away as soon as I stopped the right fan.

After that I tried to determine the problem and when I lifted the graphics card up a little so that it wasn't sagging, the noise stopped, and the opposite for when I let go of it. From that, my guess is that the shroud is getting in the way of the fan.

My question:

Should I do anything else besides try to prop it up? I only have short zip ties meant for cables and I can't find any place close to the graphics card that it'll attach to.

My screws were pretty loose in the back, and I have my PCI-E power cable coming from the top. I'll try to tighten the power cable and put as much of it as I can in the back, then I'll reply if anything changes.

EDIT: So far it worked! I don't hear the annoying fan noise anymore, thanks!
