I borked my Dell R710 need some guidance

So I noticed that my lifecycle firmware was not current so I tried to update it through the iDRAC console I downloaded what was labeled as the update and proceeded to install it it was taking really long and I didn't want to shut down for fear of bricking the machine so I went to bed, in the morning I found that it appeared to have updating even showing the current iteration in the iDRAC console well when I went to enter the system services I found that it would post the splash screen and lock up never moving past that so to compound what I already probably should not have gotten into I tried another update and now the system goes into a lock up screen showing gathering system resources or something like that, anywho I believe it is still salvageable as in It's not bricked yet as if I enter PXE I can boot to unRAID but now I am not sure how to go about resetting the firmware I have read some posts about downloading a linux bootable drive and updating through the CLI buy alas I have no experience with the command line interface any advice other than the obvious next time leave to someone who knows

PXE booting unraid, that's a first. If you use a bootable ubuntu flash drive, what happens? It could be you need to update the firmware on your HBA/Raid controller.

I did boot from a small linux distro and it does load but all it has is the CLI to work from its not the HBA I have a card flashed to IT mode and works fine I think somehow I managed to remove the firmware and nothing replaced it I have it running now and the screen says "collecting system inventory" but it appears to be locked up on that

That means to me it cannot find a bootable device, go into BIOS and under boot options and change it from UEFI to legacy or vice versa. Or during bootup whack F12 (I think that's the select boot device key) and look over your options. Is your HBA card running P20 by chance (assuming it's a LSI variant)?

The card is a:

Dell H310 6Gbps SAS HBA w/ LSI 9211-8i P20 IT Mode for ZFS FreeNAS unRAID

 

So just an update I was able to get windows to load up and it is working fine from the standpoint of it now shuts off and when powered up it cycles through the firmware for both the HBA and my 10Gig dual port mellanox card and boots into windows so now I need to find the correct procedure for uploading the firmware for the lifecycle part and the iDRAC gaining some traction here least I didn't brick it yet

Pull the power cable and hold the power button down for 20 seconds (yes I know this is strange without the power cable in) and replug in and it should hopefully clear. If not you might need to do racadm reset

Yeah I've tried that I'm moving ahead I've found some videos on the Dell repository manager and it sounds like I should be able to update that way now that windows is installed I'll post the outcome
