Hey, I'm interested in making my PC quieter, and I've narrowed down the noise to the CPU cooler, pictured in the Aerocool qs240 micro atx case (I bought the PC second hand recently, I didn't build it). The CPU is an i5 7500, paired with an MSI GTX 1080 gaming X: which cooler would be best to replace the current one with (looking for as quiet as possible), given that as you can see in the picture, there's not much space for the cooler so a big one will bump up against the ram?

An additional question I had is: is the i5 7500 strong enough to be paired with he 1080? I've gamed on it for the two months I've owned it and the performance is great, but if it could be better and I'm held back by bottlenecking I'm interested to know.

Cheers!

Luke

Arctic Esports is fairly quiet, and cheaper. You really don't want to go past the price of that unit on a locked chip like the 7500.

And yeah you are held back a bit by your processor- if you're interested in upgrading, a 7700/k would do fine.

You won’t notice a bottlenecking problem until you play a game that will peg out either the cpu or gpu. If you aren’t driving something at 100% of having a thermal throttle then there is no bottleneck. Otherwise, it’s just adequate power to run whatever.

It really depends on the game though. The way a game is designed will really determine which resources the program is most heavy for.

As for a quieter CPU cooler. I’ve used a lot and think the Cooler Master Gemin ii is the quietest I’ve used. A bit of an odd shape but it cools really well. You can research dB levels to figure out what will be best for you (all available online and at retailers like Newegg).

doesnt have to be that cooler, that style is for small form factor cases and usually cost more.

a tower 2~4 heatpipe , 9cm fan will do.

eg coolermaster T410 / or even T2

Worth noting that the fan on the T2 is deafening lol

Yeah, absolutely. I’m just speaking from personal experience.

I’m sure there are tons of other adequate and quiet coolers. I like to stick with Noctua and Cooler Master for the quality. Either brand makes lots of quiet models.

I'm having a hard time finding cpu coolers which will fit, as you can see in my picture the 90mm by 90mm cooler already there only just fits.

https://www.pccasegear.com/products/30681?PPC=Y&gclid=CjwKCAjwv6blBRBzEiwAihbM-ZaUZ0ebb9eVNTuddDW5zpA51TsvCQA8SpUbQpUayNxDfWSq022rjBoCir8QAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

This might just work, it's width is only 87.5mm so shouldn't bump the RAM! Any thoughts?

The Aerocool QS-240 has 160mm of clearance for the cpu cooler which means the Pure Rock would easily fit and is a good option.
