PC not starting

My friend bought an used "gaming" pc some days ago. Now it works fine, it got an i7 2600, gtx780, but now comes the bad part... it only came with 2gb ram. But the one who sold it gave my friend an 8gb stick, which is nice and all but the pc doesnt seem to start if it uses the 8gb stick. He says the pc starts but after about 1-2 sec it turns of. Could this be a faulty ram stick or is it an easy fix, like maybe an bios update or something like that? I read online that some other people had similare problems but they couldnt seem to find a solution. Now i told my friend that a mobo bios update might help, but he havent tried that yet so if any of u guys know of any solution, then that would be great!

500w psu

The 2gb ram that works doesnt have any information about it

But the 8gb ram stick is an: (2Rx4 PC3 - 10600R - 09 - 10 - E1 - P1)

Are you making sure that's a compatible DDR3 stick? Perhaps also list the brand as well.

 

I checked the motherboard manual, this is what it says regarding memory support:

Well the mobo supports this:

 

And the 8gb ram stick is ddr3 and should be at 1333mhz
