Intel Optane Install

Hi all, new to the forum.

Here is my current setup:

  •  i9-9900k
  •  MSI MEG Z390 ACE
  •  1 TB NVMe Samsung 970 EVO M.2 installed in the M2_3 slot (Operating System)
  •  1 TB SATA Western Digital M.2 installed in the M2_2 slot using
  •  32 GB Intel Optane M.2 installed in the M2_1 slot
  •  1.5 TB Western Digital HDD installed in SATA2
  •  32 GB 3200 Corsair Vengeance Pro RGB
  •  EVGA GTX 1080 FTW2 iCX
  •  EVGA SuperNOVA 650 G3

I bought an Intel Optane module to increase speeds when accessing my HDD, but I've been trying to get it installed for about a week now, and I can't seem to understand what I am doing wrong.

I have ENABLED the following:

  •  M.2 Port Remapping for the M2_1 slot
  •  SATA Mode: RAID/Optane Mode
  •  M.2/Optane Genie
  •  UEFI Boot (greyed out, cannot change)

I've installed the Intel Optane Memory driver, but when I open the Intel Optane application, I get the following message: No compatible disks for Intel Optane memory.

Any ideas?? I'm going crazy.

Here are the requirements for HDD's to work with Intel Optane technology:

Drive to be accelerated.1:

  • SATA-based primary/system boot drive or secondary/data drive.2
  • GPT Partition table is required for SATA disk to be accelerated. (Drives setup with MBR partition tables aren't supported for acceleration.)
  • 5MB available at the end of disk.

I did see that, and I realized that my HDD is not GPT. But I would think that the Optane application would still recognize the module right? Also, under Disk Management the Optane module is unallocated and recognized as "INTEL MEMPEK1W032GA." Am I supposed to allocate this drive?

I think the error message is in reference to your 1.5 TB HDD. I would convert it to MBR and try again.

I cleaned and converted my HDD to GPT using Diskpart and then it all fell into place! I thought that the Optane module would still show up even without a compatible HDD but evidently that is not the case. Thanks a lot! I really appreciate the help.
