I am building a new budget oriented gaming PC/small workstation 

Should I choose the new Intel core i5 9400f or a Ryzen 5 variant 

Which one is more suitable for my build 

My First Preference is Gaming 

Second Is Some Light Project Work For School 

Third Some Light Content Creation*

You'll get better performance with an intel chip for the adobe software

 

Though if you're budgeted I'd opt for the 2700x.
