Server Appraisal

We have a server at work that I'm working on migrating from, all that's left is users. We want to sell it once we're done but I have no idea how much to sell it for on eBay (US).

Heres what it is.

Lenovo Thinkserver Tower

Xeon E5607 @2.27

16GB Ram

150GB SSD 320GB HDD 950GB HDD

Windows Server Small Business 2011

Also, can I sell it with OS or not?

Specs:

 Gaming PC: i5 3570, 16GB 1600MHz, GTX 780 3GB, Transcend 128GB, WD 500GB, Seagate 500GB, Thermaltake 600W Smart, S340 w/ RGB, Windows 10 Pro

 Server: Xeon E5 2650, 12GB 1600MHz ECC, 8400GS, WD 2TB + 1TB + 1TB, EVGA 500B 500W, Windows 10 Pro

 Laptop: Macbook Pro Retina 2013, i7 4558U, 8GB 1600MHz, Intel Iris Pro 1.5GB, Apple 256GB NVME, Mojave

 Internet: $70/month For 500/100, Actually get 525/102

~£10 for CPU

16GB Ram

~£60 for RAM (Assuming it is ECC which is most likely)

For these hard drives, it is unlikely that people want to buy them used as they don't want to lose the data (especially people buying used servers) ~£30

For the OS, you may be able to sell it on some sketchy website, but I don't really know much about that.

Finally, all of this wrapped up will likely go for ~£110 based off other similarly second-hand servers.

System altogether might fetch $100-200, I would consider keeping the disks unless you're very familiar with properly scrubbing them.

You could look at ebay for a good comparison...

I feel like this guy's prices are hard to beat, I'd configure a system using his CTO and use that price: https://techmikeny.com/

Not to mention shipping those things suck, ackward shape and heavy. Maybe see if they will let you take it home for a lab ?

Thanks. Haha, I would but I already have a Xeon System with 8 cores that pulls around a 10000 PassMark and this only gets 3000 so hard pass. :)

There are some things that don't need horsepower, or nice to have a box outside the lab to keep an eye on everything (albeit that could be a much lower powered pi or vm in the cloud).

Those CPUs could be swapped out with x5670s which are around 8000 passmark, they're going for around $25 a pop on ebay.
