144hz vs 60hz

Hey!

I was planning to buy a 144hz 1080p freesync display. I have a gtx 1070. Until now I only had 60hz displays. Seeing my card probably cant run anything near that in modern titles, is it worth getting a 144hz display? how bad would 60fps be on a144hz compared to a decent 60hz 1440p display.

You can just lower graphical settings to medium, it'll look mostly the same but you'll get a large fps boost.

 

144hz is generally better for gaming

 

but what's your CPU?

60fps = 60hz , no matter how great monitor can handle.

I know. I was just curious if there is a difference running the game 60fps on a 144hz 1080p display or a 60hz 1440p one. 
Doest the native refresh rate make a difference.

in general, no diff.

 

in theory, higher hz monitor shows the frame at more accurate timing

Get a 144hz display the difference is like day and night.. You wont regret it!

Get the higher resolution display, you're not buying the monitor to replace it in a year or two.

Even if your current PC wouldn't have above average performance on 1440p, the next one will.

 

Get 144 Hz if you're a competitive player.

Thanks for the input guys im getting a 1440p 144hz then. Any suggestions at a reasonable price range? I looked at a few g-sync compatible displays on nvidias website. AOC AG241QX is this a decent model? I've read kind of mixed reviews, but this is already a bit over budget.
