Hi, below are my pc specs. I need help choosing my next upgrade and would really like it if someone could help me out.

Specs

Ryzen 5 1600

Asus tuf b450m

Corsair v650 80+ psu

2 120gb ssd (free gift from work no idea the brand)

1 1tb hdd WD Blue

Gtx 960 2gb ssc evga

1080p 60hz monitor (want to go to 1440p 75hz or 1080p 144hz)

Case is something off eBay decent air flow

Now my question is this, should I upgrade my case, monitor etc or upgrade my gpu first. I can get a vega 56 gigabyte new for £270. I would have to wait a month inbetween expensive upgrades. If waiting an 2xtra month to get a more expensive card is the better choice I can do that, i have no intention of upgrading again for another 3 to 5 years after this so I want to make sure it will last.Any help is appreciated, thank you.

Vega 56 first, then a 144Hz monitor later, they can found sub £200 these days. Also, a PSU upgrade wouldn't hurt, the VS series is rather low end, despite 650 watts being enough.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

What kind of monitor do you have Is it IPS or TN  But If it was me I would get a 1070/1070ti or a 1660ti  first then save up and get a good 1440p 144hz IPS monitor.

My monitor has is from Acer got it years ago can't tell you the panel type.

Thanks for the quick replies, I knew the gpu was the weakest part of the system. Currently in only playing LoL so I don't need a beefy gpu right this minute but I do want to increase storage, get a better air flow case and fans etc (make it pretty). Would it be worth picking up that vega 56 now or pick up a few cheaper things now and in May buy a rtx 2070 for £450. Would this be better for my needs or is the 2070 'overkill'?

Do you plan to play more than LoL? What games do you realistically intend to play?

The GPU is the clear upgrade path, but frankly if you're just playing eSports games, you're putting too much into your system.

no the 2070 wouldn't be overkill if you plan on getting a 1440p monitor also if you dont plan on upgrading for several years its always best to buy the nuest and most powerful GPU you can afford.

Yeah ATM my main games are epsorts since the gpu can't keep up with new titles. I intend to play more games like Monster hunter, DMC5, BF, Tomb raider and assassin creed titles. Esports are my main focus but I would like to play those games at high settings 1080p or 1440p at 75hz with free-sync or g-sync

The Vega 56 should be a good investment there. From comparisons I've seen it's a small step above the 1660ti in most regards, and would give you good performance on either monitor upgrade.

As noted above, the 1660ti or GTX 1070 is a solid upgrade choice as well if you can find a comparable deal on one.

Your 960 should be able to pull of at least MHW currently with med settings or so. It's worth a play in the meantime!

Thank you guys, you made this a lot easier than I thought it would be. On last thing I would like to add is that a vega 56 is £250, 1660ti £280 and a rtx 2060 £320.

from that perspective the 56 is the best buy there.
