Locked i3 on an overclocking board, cheapo PSU and case, no SSD, could use some improvement.

I picked the 1600 because it's at the same $130 price point as the i3, but you could easily get the 2600 and 1660 ti to great effect like @dgsddfgdfhgs recommended

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

Thanks for the input,  I'm new to the build game so just looking for any suggestions and tips for a budget gaming PC that can handle HD graphics at at least 60fps. Open to all suggestions,  I came here to learn.

HD graphics like 1440p or 4k? Or just 1080p? The 1070 or 2060 are pretty overkill for 1080p 60fps.

If you need to shed some cost, swap the 1660 Ti for an RX 580 (brand new XFX models are $179 right now, and free game codes are usually added).

Aerocool DS are the best fans you've never tried.

you say you want to achieve 1440p (if in budget i guess?) but the monitor you've chosen is 1080p. I would definitely recommend you check out both Linus' budget build guide (December i think, did 3 builds in one vid for $500-1500 range).

If you want a 1440p build I would expect to pay £1000+ (including monitor, mouse keyboard) and would probably use an rtx 2060.

Ryzen is almost certainly a better bet than intel on a budget, you don't pay extra for overclocking and unless you're playing in the big leagues the few fps difference between intel and AMD in single threaded performance really won't have an impact on you.

The money you then save can go towards a better gpu/ssd/80+ bronze/gold/whatever psu.

On the other hand, if you want 1080p 144hz like your build indicates, go with a 1660ti or rx 580/590 and use the money you saved on the GPU to get extra things which may make life better. 2 SSd's one for boot and one for games, or a mechanical keyboard or extra fans or RGB (if thats what you're into).

IMO 144hz stable 1080p will deliver a better experience than 1440p at 60/70fps, but it depends what you play. I enjoy shooters, if story games is your thing then 1440p 60 fps will be gorgeous.
