I recently came into ownership of a nice 1920x1080p monitor, but that's pretty much all I know, other than it's probably old since it only has a VGA and DVI-I Dual Link inputs. I'm having troubles getting it to output. I think it might be due to using a DisplayPort to VGA adapter, but I would like to know for sure and if it is because of the adapter, one that might work better.

Also, even though it's a minor problem since I'm only using this one for Discord, why is there horizontal lines going up and down the screen? I this also from VGA? Or might it just be the monitor?

Because I have another monitor connected to the DVI

You can't have your cake and eat it too.  You will have to choose which monitor you want to use, apparently it is not going to happen with the VGA connection.
