Help, is this important and how do I reattach?

Hello. So I was removing my battery from my laptop and this black piece fell off, see photo. It came from the magnetic looking connector in beige from the other pic. How do I reattach it and is it important?

Welcome to the club. And welcome to the world of shitty laptops elements. I always wondering why they don't made it metal, but in plastic.

You can live without it if you have external keyboard. Or find specialist who can replace whole port.

that is how the battery is secured. it will work without it, but it will be loose. it may disconnect at any time causing you to lose your work. repair it asap.

this is of course, if that is the battery connector.

You could try and push that thing down and hot glue it, but it might still be a bad connection.

Yup. My laptop keyboard isnt working now, and as my power button is on the keyboard, I can't turn it on
