nas or internal storage

I have gigabit on both computers and Im wanting to know if it would be worth turning my older one into a nas with multiple 500gb hdds in raid 0 would be faster than running 2 on my main pc. and also would I also be able to use the nas as a steam library

I7 7700k, msi z270, 8gb 2133 ram, 1050ti sc, 120gb ssd, 1tb hdd, 2 500gb hdds, and a 4 port usb3 pci card.

If you don't plan on using the extra storage when your current desktop is turned off or share its data to someone else through the internet, there's no reason to run a NAS.

I personally would build a use FREENAS and a rig built with parts from EBAY and a lot of HDDs, since HDDs make your main rig quite heavy

why would that matter at all, its a stationary computer, even if it weights 100kg it wont matter the slightest.

That depends, how much total storage are you looking for and whats your budget? 

 

And I REALLY dont suggest using raid 0 unless you dont care at all about whats on the drives, even then its nice having redundancy because you dont have to deal with setting it all up again.

Sorry for late reply, if you ever move houses or have to lift up your main rig during cleaning; the added weight wouldn't be nice
