So currently in rolling around with an Inspiron 6350 I bought or around 550 USD a year or so ago in a local tech store. All is stock besides a GTX 1050Ti (dual fan) I plopped in.

Got a slightly bigger request with this one, what should I upgrade first (and what to would help a lot!)? I'm into gaming, and have no issue getting 75fps in most modern games at 16x9 res( currently I use 3 monitors and my main display is a 75 Hz 1600x900 for clarification) at medium quality.

My main issue isn't with graphical quality, it's mostly about load times, with games like 'Rust' taking at most 40 min to load into a server first time every startup. In games like 'Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege' I do not have an issue with it as it is less load heavy, it only takes a minute or two on startup. These two examples may not be fair since 'Rust' is rather unoptimized atm.

Even that being so, GPU and CPU recomendations alike wouldn't be unappreciated.

Obviously I'm a bit newer so I've been looking around, but haven't found any examples exactly like my predicament yet. Even something like getting a larger box would be cool, I would understand that because it is a small case, provided there's a good recommendation with it.

I don't mind much if you tell me to go buy a large number of parts totalling at a few thousand dollars, but that wouldn't be too helpful because I'm more looking for an economic next step.

Off the top of my head here's what I got:

i5-6400 2.4 GHz Quad-core

GTX 1050Ti

8 Gigs RAM DDR3L

In the United States and budget anything between 100-300 USD.

Go for 16GB of RAM, 8 is really not enough.....

just get a 500gb 2.5" ssd for games& os, that would be ~$70

then you might want a better monitor before anything else, 1600x900 4:3 in 2019 is just too underwhelming

Is it a machine like this? https://www.cnet.com/products/dell-inspiron-3650-mt-core-i5-6400-2-7-ghz-8-gb-1-tb-i36502820slv/

1st: You'd want an SSD for the OS, the programs and maybe the most played games. 240GB would be the minimum, 256-480-512 would be recommended. SATA.

2nd: You need more RAM. You have a slot free, so you need to add a single stick 8GB DDR3L 1600MHz. You'll even gain a few fps more cause of Dual Channel.

3rd: A new monitor, at least 1080p 75Hz.

4th: Optional - a better CPU cooler to get the machine work quieter. Not a really needed step.

5th: Windows 10 if you're running Windows 7. You can upgrade for free if you do it from inside Windows with the Windows Upgrade Assistant.

6th: For future upgrades, maybe a better PC case, a better power supply...

no, better keep that 8gb DDR3L till end of service.

any more ddr3 will not be reusable in new system upgrades. by that time (not long in future), you will be looking at 2x8 sticks of precious ram but no where to stick in

I strongly disagree. He would profit from 16GB and Dual Chanel a lot. I don't think he'll change the platform that soon. Also, DDR3 is a lot cheaper than DDR4 at the moment.

So, yes that looks to be the PC I have you mentioned. I'm probably going to start with RAM since getting as SSD would require a lot of time or a system transfer, which I'm not able to do at this time. I've already got a 1TB HDD in there that's pretty much full.

I'm already on Windows 10 as well. I totally agree that a better monitor would be better and provide less of a disadvantage.

I do find getting a better CPU cooler a good idea. In the summer my room gets pretty hot, that's why I already paid extra for a dual fan in my 1050Ti.

Appreciate the input!
