Try all possible repair and restore options you get from F8 menu. Windows updates failing isn't new thing. It happened when they had QA team, and now they are pretty much constant pain. If everything from Windows main toolset fails, you need to use install media which has more powerful tools. Like repair install for example.

Looks like A2 is a boot issue with the drives. Disconnect all attached drives other than your boot one. Also rest your CMOS too. And It also could be a driver issue. Have you been able to roll back your machine via a restore point? Any backups? If not you can always grab everything off the drive using a LiveCD/USB to access the file system before you nuke your install.
