I see, My PSU is a MasterWatt Lite 600W

Any CPU/Mobo/RAM you can suggest me to look at? I don't know which one is good or better.

Thanks!

Here's an idea of what that upgrade looks like from PCPartPicker:

So as the title says, I'm new to building computers and only have general ideas.

I currently have a system unit but I'm having this laggy / fps drop experience on some games like CS:GO and Dota 2 in low settings.

I don't know what's the problem so I'm asking here, Hope someone can give me an advice on what should I change or do to play on decent fps.

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-890GPA-U3DH

Processor: AMD PHENOM II X4 965 (3.4Ghz)

GPU: ASUS ROG STRIX Geforce GTX 1050Ti OC Edition HDMI 2.0 DP 1.4

RAM: Not sure which brand but it's 2x2GB 1033hz DDR3

Like I said, I'm a total noob when it comes to building a computer.

And sorry for my bad english, Hope you understand!

Thanks!

Your graphics card is modern but your CPU is rather old and your ram is slow. The only measure you could take without spending extra money is to overclock what it is you can and use something like MSI afterburner to set an fps limit to reduce CPU bottleneck, but an update to Ryzen when you can would work out pretty well for you.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

Thanks for the quick reply, Can you give me an advice or pointers which should I change first? Is my board still good with my GPU?

Your RAM is slow but also it's vastly lacking in quantity.  4GB RAM is half minimum, at best.

No, you'd need a whole new board to upgrade to Ryzen as well as all new RAM.

What PSU do you have?  Maybe can salvage that.

You're looking at basically a whole core (CPU/Mobo/RAM) to join the current decade.

The motherboard you've got is a dead end platform, the best you could get is a high end phenom II x6, but that's a pretty bad investment as they're power hungry and computationally weak.

Isn't it also the case that Windows 7 doesn't have support for Ryzen CPUs, so when he does upgrade to a newer CPU (like Ryzen) it would likely be best to also upgrade to Windows 10 so you get updates and actual product/software support post-2020.

I have no idea at overclocking and I'm currently trying to learn more about it, So as for now I'm kinda staying away from it lol.

I see, I don't have any problem switching to Windows 10, If that would make it better.

So budget wise, Should I get Ryzen or Intel?

Thank you for your detailed suggestion, It looks affordable! I'm on a tight budget but this looks promising ( tho I don't really have any idea. )

I'll try to go with this.

One more question, Does AMD Processors need a good cooler?

I've read about some people say that they go really hot.

Pardon my ignorance about computer stuff ._.

It's enough but the 2600 is superb value, hard to say no.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Is this good?

The strix boards are a bit more expensive than they're worth, you can get an Aorus board with the same power delivery for less usually.

Also, if you don't have an SSD, add one ASAP.

I also don't see any ram on this list.

No, you lowered it to a quad-core and the RAM is much slower (Ryzen needs/wants faster RAM speed, don't go for DDR4-2400, you want 3000+).  Also that motherboard is way overkill for a 2200G, There is no value in getting an Asus ROG if you don't have a high budget for extra bling.

I would stick to what my build is unless you have a budget issue with it, I put it there for best value.

That was about the old FX-series AMD.  That info is not valid for talking about Ryzen.  Ryzen temps are fine, and the coolers they come with are far better stock-coolers that AMD used to provide with the older CPUs they sold.

I see, There must be something wrong with the userbenchmark, It says ASRock B450 is not compatible earlier so I tried choosing a different brand.

And I couldn't find the DDR4-3000 at the benchmark. You guys are helping me alot! Big thanks!

Userbenchmark is super general, I'd say use it after getting info from other sources only. But might as well skip it to be honest.

For older games?  Sure, but if he wants to play any future games it's not.  Why save under $65 now just so you have to go out and spend at least another $170+ on a new CPU much sooner when that 1200 is edged out in favor of 6 core+ applications.  It just doesn't seem fit for future gaming or future tasks.
