I currently have a single 640GB WD Blue in a USB 3 external enclosure. It is near full there is maby 10GB left on it and I want a very large, safe and fast solution for my storage so I can archive downloads save TV shows and back up my data on. I have never setup a RAID before and was wondering if I should go with WD Caviar Red drives for my RAID setup or just a bunch of whatever drive I find a good price on. I know WD Reds are designed for a NAS RAID setup or whatever but I'm not entirely sure if they would be a good choice.

PS: I plan on using the RAID controller built onto my motherboard until I can afford a RAID card to run a bunch of drives. I only plan on using 2 3TB or 4TB drives at first but I want to be able to expand later on.
