Sound Set Upgrade

CityLake

Hello guys,

I'm actually upgrade my room and are now working on my sound setup on pc.

I would like to use a headphone and 2 stereo speaker, my new headphone will be the DT880.
Speakers I'm not sure which are recommended, at the moment I have the Cambridge Audio SX-50 in view.

The recommendations of the pinned thread of the sound forum, I have already read but not found with which I can change the output source without to unplug the headphone.

I hope anyone can help and I'm open for other recommendations.

My max. budget for the complete setup are ~600$

Yes, if possible to get a good setup, but it's not a problem, when the a recommended setup are over the 600.

I would get a pair of HD 6XX's

Rokkit 5's are also on sale right now and there really good

Note that the price is for one speaker and you would need 2

Do you need something like a DAC/AMP to drive the speakers/headphones

My life

Thanks again.

But the problem is, that I dont can change the outputs.
If I like to listen only to the speakers then I must unplug my headphone or am I false?

Maybe I have to buy an Interface or two AMPs or have anyone a another option?

You could have a look at the SMSL AD18.
It is a small desktop AMP-DAC combo that has speakers outputs on the rear and a headphone jack on the front.

As for speakers I would take a look at the second hand market. Once yet get a desktop amplifier you get access to the HiFi speaker market in general, and you can get really awesome speakers at a much better price. Speakers rarely break anyway, so you have relatively few risk.

Personally I run a Topping PA3 with an older Bose Acoustimass system, including the bassbox, and they sound pretty good for their size.

True. I still have a pair of 1987 sony bookshelfs that are totally fine (they do have rubber surrounds though, so cant suffer from foam rot)

LTT's Resident Porsche fanboy and nutjob Audiophile.

Main speaker setup is now;

Mini DSP SHD Studio -> 2x Mola Mola Tambaqui DAC's (fed by AES/EBU, one feeds the left sub and main, the other feeds the right side) -> 2x Neumann KH420 + 2x Neumann KH870

(Having a totally seperate DAC for each channel is game changing for sound quality)
