I have an hp elite 8300 Compaq how do I upgrade the power supply I got an evga 400watt but it can't plug into it because the Compaq has a dual 6pin connection and evga only has a 24pin I even called evga and they said it isnt compatible but I saw an adapter is that my only option because hp doesn't make any other power supplys for the compaq

You will need an adapater, HP will say don't do it but is because legal reasons.
