Your PC build is for video editing and professional apps that require or need a ton of cores and threads.  It won't make your gaming smoother or faster, it is basically for photoshop and premiere or studio max or a DAW.  What resolution does your son plan on gaming at ?  If 1080p then the 1060 will give you 60fps locked.  I understand you have 2 4k monitors but you can't game at 4k since no card can handle it except a 2080Ti which struggles to keep things at 60fps.  The sweet spot is 1440p gaming.  Also I assume the 43" 4k is for you and the 40" 4k for your son.  The builds look good, it looks like you did good research on what CPU and motherboard combo to get.  I would rather give your son the 1070 and you take the 1060 since you don't game or do you ? Also I wouldn't get that SSD, HP is not the king of SSD.  I suggest you get a Sammy 970 Pro and put the HP SSD for your son.

The GTX 1070 will barely handle FPS games at 4K, and not exactly at high FPS, the 1060 6GB will chug at 4K in anything but simulation games. Forget ARK at 4K with any settings on the 1060, ARK is just brutal at 4K.

I do not however think you need a 2080Ti to game at 4K. My RX 580 runs at 4K, but ARK chugs hard, and other FPS games need settings turned down substantially. I'm likely going to a 2060 or 2070 for 4K and then I shoul dhe able to crank the settings in most of the games I play, as they're not that challenging even for the 2060.

I don't think he or his son wants to game at 4k.  That is why I asked.  Your two options are 1060 for 1080p and 1070 for 1440p.

I think it's safe to assume that since he said he has a pair of 4K monitors, he's intending to use them.

And that depends on the types of games he and his son want to play. Forza runs over 80FPS average damn near cranked at 4K. Diablo III has no problems with 4K, though not at max settings. Elite Dangerous and EVE are both basically cranked at 4K over 60FPS depending on network lag more than anything. All on my RX580 8GB. I haven't done much Fortnite, but beyond network issues, it ran great at whatever their default decided on for me at 4K.

Well 4k for the desktop and 1080p or 1440p resolution in games is his intension I assume.
