Thinking about upgrading my CPU

So I have a i5 6600k with 16GB of DDR3 and a GTX 1080. I'm pretty sure i'm one of the only people who has DDR3 with a skylake CPU anymore. I was wondering if that could be affecting performance and if it's worth going up to DDR4, or it's worth upgrading my CPU/MoBo/RAM all together?

Depending on the speed of your DDR3 I wouldn't think it would be affecting performance too significantly, although there will be some performance loss. I would say stick with it until you are looking to upgrade to a new CPU then just grab everything that goes along with that.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

been a while since I heard of that, pretty sure it was determined the performance difference at the time was minimal, speed and timings have improved a little since then, but it's not a cost effective plan

If there is a good deal on a good set of DDR4 now (Samsung B-die for example), I'd go for it. If not, I'd wait.

I was thinking that there wasn't much difference, it's only 1600mhz or something like that, so I was thinking of going DDR4 at a much faster speed.

I've found some Corsair Vengeance LPX for £100 for a 16GB kit
