OLD EVGA X58 MOBO AND XEON HELP!

Zenith.Nate

So I purchased an X58 EVGA Rev 1.0 Motherboard from Ebay and a X5670 CPU to go in it. Now its turning on and not giving me any error codes but it has no display. I saw on multiple sites that my Revision of the motherboard doesn't support the  Westmere Architecture without modding. Can anyone help me with this or have previous experiance with it? If not from this list what Xeon or cpu should I get to replace the 6 core 12 thread but I really wanna get it working!

Xeons do not have graphics support. you need an external graphics card I believe. Something cheap works.

Never really done it.

Well, to mod the board, you need to move an SMD which is a small part on a circuit board. It's not a beginner task, but doesn't require any extremely expensive tools. Only a pencil/precision tip soldering iron, some solder wick, tweezers and a magnifying glass with a light.

GreatScott! has an excellent tutorial on it.
Use the solder wick to remove the resistor from the original spot. Use tweezers or a pair of helping hands to hold the resistor in the new spot, and put a small amount of solder. I'd remove the RAM and everything that may get in the way to make this whole process easier.
