ok so i was going to go buy all new high end stuff like 9900k and 2080ti 3600mhz ram and all that jazz....but i have a 6700k that pretty much runs all new games out even my 980ti is still tearing up the games at max settings, but my motherboard is dying, hence why i decided to retire that setup,so i was thinking just get a new motherboard and maybe a 2080ti and call it a day,but as i searched for a motherboard for the 6700k theres none worth buying newegg has nothing but ecs and other cheapo stuff....so am i forced to go ahead and buy the new stuff?

What resolution do you plan on playing at ?  If 1440p then the Ti will do nothing for you.  But if you want to play at 4k resolution that is where the Ti VRAM kicks into effect.

No need to spend 700 bucks more if your @ 1440p or below.

Also your CPU is still relevant, if you can give her a good overclock.  A 2080 would shine on the system but the 9900k might add a bit more to your frame rate and what not.

what kind of market are you dealing with? You can mod Z170/Z270 boards to fit 8th and 9th gen CPUs so if you can get a high end one (just saw a Z270 Maximus 9 Apex deal that's quite nice) that's compatible with the 6700k, you can stay with it instead of instantly dumping money for the 9900k. Also gives you time to wait for 3rd gen Ryzen in that matter.

CPU: i7-2600K 4751MHz 1.44V (software) --> 1.47V at the back of the socket Motherboard: Asrock Z77 Extreme4 (BCLK: 103.3MHz) CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D15 RAM: Adata XPG 2x8GB DDR3 (XMP: 2133MHz 10-11-11-30 CR2, custom: 2203MHz 10-11-10-26 CR1 tRFC:230 tREFI:14000) GPU: Asus GTX 1070 Dual (Super Jetstream vbios, +70(2025-2088MHz)/+400(8.8Gbps)) SSD: Samsung 840 Pro 256GB (main boot drive), Transcend SSD370 128GB PSU: Seasonic X-660 80+ Gold Case: Antec P110 Silent, 5 intakes 1 exhaust Monitor: AOC G2460PF 1080p 144Hz (150Hz max w/ DP, 121Hz max w/ HDMI) TN panel Keyboard: Logitech G610 Orion (Cherry MX Blue) with SteelSeries Apex M260 keycaps Mouse: BenQ Zowie FK1

4K has much lower CPU requirements compared to 1080p, if you arent streaming or anything demanding you could just stick to the 6700k.

Ok then in that case get the Ti.  But do note your looking at a steady 60fps .... everything maxed out in nv panel and in game.  Where as 1440p would give you 180fps for example.

ill actually have 2 monitors which i will switch from, basically using the 4k for movies and non competitive gaming but when i need the frames for competitive gaming ill switch to 1440p

the "compatibility" is more of a backdoor user mod and in no way officially supported. Don't take it for granted.
