Can i clean heatsink with water?

Shyxap

I have Noctua NH-U9S and i was wondering if i could just to spray it with water to clean it and ease my work that way and save my tooth brush from all that dust.
i worry about mainly corrosion as i don't know the metals used in this cooler

Aluminum and copper should not corrode with water as long as it is allowed to dry thoroughly.

That is a first for me to hear.  Watering it down lol.  Its gonna cause corrosion you don't want that.  Just clean it with a powerful blower.

Water is great for washing the heatsink. Just dry it before reinstalling.

Yes :D Thats how I cleaned my original U9B before installing U14S in its place. Washed it under running water, without soap, and let it dry for day or two. Cleaned fan by wiping blades with soft paper towels. That thing is still operational.

Compressed air, and like the others have said it won't corrode as long as you let it dry.

just.. ya know sometimes it needs a good wipe down and spray.

When I clean my heat sink like for my Evo 212,I first use compressed air to clean out any dust and then I wash it in warm water, And if it’s the summer I’ll put it out in the sun and let it dry completely if it’s winter I would use a hair dryer.
