My current headphones(takstar pro 82) are pure boonk when playing games, cant hear footsteps or anything. So I am looking to get a new pair of headphones

Some friends have suggested that I get the Massdrop x Sennheiser HD 58X Jubilee

but I dont know if they would actually be good for gaming and would I need an amp to run them?

If possible what are good closed solutions aswell

depending on your mother board you will probably need a amp to run them but 58x are among the best you can get for gaming, other suggestions are dt990 pro and the dt 770 pro. the both have very v shaped response especially the 990 with very sharp highs very good for listening to footseps with you can pair this with something like a fiio 3 or a fx audio dac x6 which are greadt budget dac amps. stay away from the fiio e10k.

The Sennheiser will give you a flat response.  Accurate sound the way the artist intended for you to hear.  NO exaggerated bass or treble or mids or tweaks in general.  They are true to the sound the artist heres.  Mass Drop just give it a good HP amp to get the full potential of the phones.
