Barebones Laptop?

I currently am in the market for a gaming laptop, and I already had a non-gaming laptop whose screen broke and was no longer under warranty. So I was wondering if I were to buy a Barebones laptop and add the old memory and old storage. I was looking at this model (https://www.eluktronics.com/w650kk1)

I would be going for the i5 with thermal paste only. The drive and memory are compatible. Would this be a good Idea?

is the memory from your old laptop ddr4 and removable? a lot of laptops are moving to soldered ram which would prevent this.  for $100 more you can pick up something like this with all new hardware and a warranty that i would more likely trust. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/acer-nitro-5-15-6-laptop-intel-core-i5-8gb-memory-nvidia-geforce-gtx-1050-ti-256gb-solid-state-drive-shale-black/6212602.p?skuId=6212602
